Sunday Inspiration: Good habits are the key to all success!
Good habits
All of us are creatures of habits, some good and some bad.
Next to the Bible, the book that has had the most impact on my life is “The Greatest Salesman in the World” by Og Mandino.
This book tells a fictitious story that takes place around the time Jesus is born. Understanding and applying the principles in the ten scrolls is the secret to the tremendous success of the greatest salesman.
Scroll #1 starts with “Today I begin a new life. Today I shed my old skin which hath too long suffered the bruises of failure and the wounds of mediocrity. Today I am born anew and my birthplace is a vineyard where there is fruit for all.”
Later in that chapter, the Scroll continues “In truth, the only difference between those who have failed and those who have succeeded lies in the difference of their habits. Good habits are the key to all success. Bad habits are the unlocked door to failure. Thus, the first law I will obey, which proceedeth all others is – I will form good habits and become their slave.”
“As I child I was slave to my impulses; now I am slave to my habits, as are all grown men. I have surrendered my free will to the years of accumulated habits …”
Dr. Mike Murdock, founder of The Wisdom Center, says “The secret of your future is hidden in your daily routine! Successful people do daily what unsuccessful people do occasionally.”
So what? Now what?
Over the course of this week, I challenge you to take time to reflect upon your daily habits. Observe your own behavior and write down all your habits, things you do day after day. After you have done this for a week, decide which habits are helping you grow and which habits are holding you back.
Then choose one new good habit to start and replace a bad habit with that. Only work on one habit at a time, one month at a time.
If you can develop 3-5 new good habits over the course of the upcoming year, you will grow a lot and start experiencing breakthroughs in areas where you have been struggling.
