Where Should We Start?

14 Apr

A positive thought always leads to a positive act!

Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God. (Matthew 5:9)

How do you respond to crisis and problems with those you love the most?

Today is day #2 in our series about “The Positive Family” by Arvella Schuller.

If we don’t start right, we don’t end up right. To attain success in family life, it is necessary that we begin in right order. If we are to begin to succeed in family relationships, we need to understand that there is a positive and a negative way of thinking, talking, and living.

How often have you heard the remark, “If it doesn’t work out, I’ll get a divorce.” A negative attitude programmed into our subconscious become a negative act. Why do so many of us treat the ones we love the most the worst?

It is our choice to think, talk, and act in a positive or a negative mood, method, and manner. Each crisis and every problem – small or large – presents us with a choice. We can choose a positive or a negative reaction.

How positive are you when the alarm rings in the morning? When your partner makes an unkind remark? When your spouse is late? When you get bad news at work? When your teenager comes in after the curfew? A positive thought always leads to a positive act, while a negative thought always leads to a negative act.

Today my wife and I went to a wedding officiated by Pastor Matt Gregory. He reminded the audience that marriage is a covenant, not a contract. Marriage is the most sacred of covenants. The Biblical marriage is a divine picture of Christ and His Bride. Marriage is a holy covenant between a man and a woman and their God for a lifetime.

Prayer Power
Father, thank You for loving us before we were lovable. Help us to consistently treat our family members with love and respect. Help us to think, talk, and act in a positive manner. In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
