Why Journal? (Benefits)
“We are all called to do something great but we are not called to do it alone……” – Pastor Dan Stratton
But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a MIRROR the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord. (2 Corinthians 3:18)
What are the benefits of journaling?
What does God mean when he instructs us to MEDITATE on his Word?
Which benefit listed below would be most helpful to you at this stage of your life?
In my last devotional on June 6, I shared an overview for this series about journaling. Journaling is a very important spiritual habit that leads to much fruit. Good habits are the key to all success. Successful people do daily what unsuccessful people do occasionally.
Today, we are looking at the first topic “Why journal?” While I could probably list more than 100 good reasons off the top of my head based on personal experience, here are some of the more important ones that first come to mind:
Journaling helps you SLOW DOWN to MEDITATE on the word of God and to hear God’s quiet still voice. In Psalm 46:10, God commands “Be still and know that I AM God!” One day when I was journaling a few years ago, the Holy Spirit told me, “When you learn to listen to God, then you’ll learn to listen to people.”
Journaling allows God to be your MASTER COACH. It’s like holding up a mirror to see what you really look and act like from God’s perspective. In Spiritual Journaling, you will learn to recognize the progression from who you have been to who you are meant to become. By taking time to go back and understand the critical elements of your life-the events, relationships, patterns, and experiences that shape you-you will gradually find yourself viewing the future through the lens of conformity to the way of Jesus.

Bill Gates (Microsoft) says, “If we don’t act on a good idea within 24 hours, we are less than 50% likely to ever act on it. If we haven’t acted on it inside of days, then we are less than 2% likely to ever act on it.”
Prayer Power
Heavenly Father, we praise You as the greatest Writer of all time, who wrote the best-selling and most life-changing book of all time. Like the Samaritan woman at the well, each follower of Jesus has a story of how we met Him and the difference he has made and is making in our lives. Thank You for my wonderful habit of journaling which helps me uncover and share Your stories. Bless those who choose to allow me to COACH them to journal to experience UNCOMMON breakthroughs. Thank You Jesus. Amen.
