Who Is President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf?

What role will Liberia play in the transformation of Virginia?
What role will Liberia play in the transformation of other nations in Africa?
This week I’ve been sharing some of the story of how God is connecting Virginia and Liberia more intimately. I believe this connection is quite significant because of the role people from Virginia played in the birth of Liberia in the early 1800’s.
I first developed an interest in Liberia when I met Pastor Sam Reeves at the Culpeper Ministerial Association meeting on December 18, 2008. My heart was touched when Sam, a native of Liberia, shared the history of Liberia along with information about Rim of Grace Ministries and Operation Rescue Liberia.
My involvement helping with internet marketing opened the door for me to participate in a variety of events related to Operation Rescue Liberia. These culminated with a team visit to the Liberia Embassy in Washington DC on May 16, 2008. It was there that God opened the door for a probable visit by Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf to Virginia.
According to Wikiepedia, “Ellen Johnson Sirleaf (born October 29, 1938) is the current President of Liberia. She served as Minister of Finance under President William Tolbert from 1979 until the 1980 coup d’état, after which she left Liberia and held senior positions at various financial institutions. She placed a distant second in the 1997 presidential election. Later, she was elected President in the 2005 presidential election and took office on January 16, 2006.
Johnson-Sirleaf is often referred to as the “Iron Lady”, and she is Africa’s first elected female head of state. She has pledged to embark neoliberal reforms.”
Virginia Morton, author of Marching Through Culpeper (MTC), believes that somehow the Virginia-Liberia connection ties into the TV mini-series and movie her team is praying for weekly and working together to achieve.
