What is Biblical Prosperity?
Prosperity is having enough of God’s provision to accomplish His assignment for your life.
“Therefore if you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon (worldly wealth), who will commit to your trust the true riches?” (Luke 16:11)
What is God’s perspective on money?
The majority of Christians don’t understand biblical prosperity. If they did, they would change their behavior. The majority of Christians never fulfill God’s assignment for their lives because they believe money is evil, they make poor choices, or they are unwilling to pursue the financial resources necessary to succeed.
Many Christians have a poverty mentality, believing that wealth is evil. However, money is neutral – neither good nor bad. It can be used for either good or evil. The Bible says, “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” (1 Timothy 6:10) If the pursuit of money becomes your primary objective, then it has become your god.
Some Christians have a prosperity mentality, believing that God desires for all His children to be wealthy as long as they obey Him. Clearly, however, a study of characters in the Bible shows that God chooses to prosper some of His children much more than others financially. God does promise that if we are faithful in the little things, then He will entrust us with more.
God’s perspective on money is that we are to be good stewards with everything He entrusts to us. God wants us to be content with what we have and to be debt free. Our possessions are never to become a primary competitor with Christ for lordship of our lives.
Do you have enough financial resources to accomplish God’s assignment for your life?
Prayer Power
Thank You LORD that the Bible is a blueprint for living. Forgive me for the many times I have wanted more than I could afford or bought things I really didn’t need. Forgive me for the times I have made major finacial decisions without obtaining and heeding the counsel of those closest to me. Help my wife and I to be good stewards with all that You entrust to us. Bless us to walk in Your ways so that we may have all the financial and people resources to accomplish Your assignments for our lives Thank You Jesus. Amen.
