Trading in Your Ordinary Life
We have a God who delights in impossibilities and who asks, “Is anything too hard for me?” – Andrew Murray
I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me. (Philippians 4:13)
What happened to our little kid passion for achieving the impossible?
When did we stop shooting for impossible goals and start aiming for realistic targets instead?
Today begins a series of messages titled “When God Writes Your Life Story” based on the book by that name written by Eric and Leslie Ludy. As mentioned previously, Amy Pittman, my administrative assistant, shared a great message from that book with our web team a few weeks ago. That led me to order and begin reading the book.
The book and this devotional series is about the art of living – Christ-enabled living, impossible living, heroic living.
According to the Ludy’s, “This book is about exchanging the ordinary human life for the extraordinary life of God. It’s not for the faint of heart; it’s not for those satisfied with mediocrity; and it’s certainly not for those content with playing life at the beginner’s level. It’s about breaking through impenetrable blockades, scaling impassable barriers, and achieving impossible dreams. It’s about learning to play life at the expert level and actually winning.
The world mocks the premise of the book. Even many Christians scornfully shake their heads at this kind of message denouncing it under the label of “youthful zeal.”
The adventure begins with simple faith – being confident that God is who He says He is; realizing that we have only begun to know Him; resting assured that He will reward those who diligently seek Him, and believing that He will be found by those who desire Him.
As little kids we trust in the impossible, even to a fault… That is why Jesus Christ says that to enter into His kingdom we first must “become like children.” So allow your little-kid dreams to be awakened. Allow the pioneer within you to come alive – that inner spiritual explorer that longs to pursue a bigger-than-life action drama with God. The God of the Universe wants to write your life story. And when He does, you mustn’t expect a mediocre tale.”
Prayer Power
Heavenly Father, almighty God, we praise You as our great I AM. With You all things truly are impossible. Thank You for leading us to this series. Use these messages to make us strong and of good courage. Coach each of us to die daily to ourselves, to rise daily to new life in You, and to trade in our ordinary lives for extraordinary ones scripted by You. In Jesus name we pray and give You glory. Amen and hallelujah!
