Sabbath Inspiration: Passover 2016 (5776) has started
There’s power in the blood!
Passover 2016 began Friday evening April 22 and ends Saturday evening April 30.
‘Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt. So this day shall be to you a memorial; and you shall keep it as a feast to the LORD throughout your generations. You shall keep it as a feast by an everlasting ordinance.’ (Exodus 12:13-14)
Passover was about the deliverance of God’s people from bondage. It still is.
In the Hebrew calendar, this is the year of Jubilee and God is separating us from things that defile us.
Today, all of us should be calling in the name of the Lord for the blood of Jesus to cover us.
Central to the story of Passover is the Passover Lamb.
The lamb was to be selected on the 10th day of the first month (Nissan) and was to be a male, one year old without spot or blemish, and killed at twilight on the 14th day. After the Passover Lamb was killed its blood was put in a basin, dipped with hyssop and struck on the doorposts and lintel of every home of the sons of Israel in Goshen.
Year after year since the original Passover, Jewish people have observed this feast and while the temple stood in Jerusalem continued to sacrifice the Passover Lamb at twilight on the 14th day of the first month.
When John the Baptist sees Jesus (Messiah) for the first time, he proclaims “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29)
Like the Passover lamb, Jesus, the Lamb of God, is sacrificed on Passover!
It is no coincidence that Passover was the exact time when Jesus (Yeshua) was crucified and killed.
In the Book of Revelation, Jesus is referred to as the “Lamb slain before the foundation of the world!”
Those who have been redeemed by the power of the Blood of Jesus do not have to fear God’s wrath, but instead will experience the love of the Father.
Jesus answered them and said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw the signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled. Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.” Then they said to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?” Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.” (John 6:26-29)
