He is no fool
What parts of your life must you still surrender to Jesus?
“He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose.” – Jim Elliot
“He must increase, but I must decrease.” (John 3:30)
This morning (October 19, 2016) after reading more of “The Three Battlegrounds” by Francis Frangipane, I discovered an email from a friend who felt inspired to send my the YouTube link and lyrics to “He is no Fool”. After listening to that song and reflecting on the lyrics, I was touched deeply and felt inspired to share it with you. Enjoy!
In the process of researching the song “He is no fool”, I stumbled across the quote above by Jim Elliot.
Philip James “Jim” Elliot (October 8, 1927 – January 8, 1956) was an evangelical Christian who was one of five missionaries killed while participating in Operation Auca, an attempt to evangelize the Huaorani people of Ecuador.
In 2002, a documentary based on the story was released, entitled Beyond the Gates of Splendor. In 2003, a musical based on the story of Jim and Elisabeth Elliot, entitled Love Above All, was staged at the Victoria Concert Hall in Singapore by Mount Carmel Bible-Presbyterian Church. This musical was staged a second time in 2007 at the NUS University Cultural Centre. In 2006, a theatrical movie was released, entitled End of the Spear, based on the story of the pilot, Nate Saint, and the return trip of Saint’s son attempting to reach the natives of Ecuador.
Matthew 6:19 – “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
Prayer Power
Heavenly Father, shine your light on my heart revealing hidden areas of darkness. I give you permission to take the hammer of Your love to shatter my pride. May I decrease, so You may increase. Help me to realize You are all I need and everything to live for. Increase my faith and remove unbelief. I declare You are my hope and my salvation, my Deliver. Rule and reign in my life, family, and work. May my life and family be a testimony of your goodness and greatness and draw people nearer to Jesus. I pray all these things believing in the mighty and matchless and holy name of Jesus, my Messiah and frien. Amen and hallelujah!
Blessings to fully surrender your life to Jesus!
There once was a man born of high circumstance
Heir to advantage, He had every chance to succeed
But light from the cross made his dreams appear small
And to their surprise he went far–from it all
For the love of his Savior, for one priceless jewel
They could not understand so they called him a foolChorus
He is no fool
If he would choose
To give the thing he cannot keep
To buy what he can never lose
To see a treasure in one soul
That far outshines the brightest gold
He is no fool, He is no fool
He is no fool, He is no foolThere once was a boy who could run like the wind
Given to lead, every man was his friend at the line
But light from the cross made his race appear small
And to their amazement, he followed the call
For the love of his Savior, for one priceless jewel
They could not understand so they called him a foolRepeat Chorus
Show me the fool who abandons his life
To walk in the steps of our Lord Jesus Christ
