Pray the Lord’s Prayer for spiritual breakthrough!

“This, then, is how you should pray: ” ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, (Matthew 6:9)

How does someone learn to pray? Practice and education! Start easy and work your way up. Only the Holy Spirit can guide us to pray as we should. Just as a child learns to walk by walking, one can best learn to pray by praying, trusting in the help of God.

Long before people are able to engage in praying themselves, they must feel that praying is something they would like to do. They must develop an appreciation of the benefits of prayer and of the many ways to pray.

When Jesus was asked by his disciples to teach them how to pray, He gave them the Lord’s Prayer (Luke 11:1-4, Matthew 6:5-15). One of the first and best books I ever read on prayer was “Praying the Lord’s Prayer for Spiritual Breakthrough” by Dr. Elmer Towns.

“Towns reveals the power of prayer in this fascinating look at the Lord’s Prayer. Each chapter examines a line from the Prayer, revealing power points for every believer desiring a more dynamic prayer life. Towns says: “What would you say if you were ushered into the throne room of God with only one minute to request everything you needed, but didn’t know how to put it into words? The Lord’s Prayer includes everything you need to ask when you talk to God. It is a model prayer that teaches us how to pray.”

As a child and adult I often prayed the Lord’s Prayer in church, but I didn’t know or understand the power that is behind until I read Dr. Town’s book. Reading that book opened my eyes, heart, and mind regarding the Lord’s Prayer. Now when I hear the Lord’s Prayer prayed or sung, I have an overwhelming experience with the Lord. READ THIS BOOK!

Prayer Power
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. I praise You my Lord, King, Master, and Savior. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, in my family as it is in heaven. Give me this day my daily bread. Jesus, You are my bread of life. Thank You that I can count on You to meet all my needs every day as I seek Your Kingdom and righteousness first. Forgive me my trespasses, as I forgive those who trespass against me. Right now, I forgive everyone who has ever wronged me and I ask for forgiveness for all those I have ever wronged. Wash me as white as snow. Lead me not into temptation, but deliver me from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory. Thank You that I am on the winning side of an all powerful God and that You have called me to live for Your glory. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
