Sunday Inspiration: The Only Disability in Life is a Bad Attitude

14 Jul

Man makes his plans, but the LORD directs his steps. (Proverbs 16:9)

Before going to bed last Sunday night (July 7), I told my wife I was not going to the Powell Wellness Center the next morning for my usual two-hour Monday workout, which includes riding the bicycle in a spin class for 45 minutes, swimming 1200 yards, and walking in the turtle pool for 30 minutes. At the time, I didn’t feel like getting up early on Monday to go.

However, as things turned out, I did end up going. Maui, my dog and “God alarm clock,” woke me up at 4:55 am on Monday. After feeding her, I went back to bed, but did not fall asleep. At 5:25 am, I chose to get up and do my long workout to start my week on a good note. And that choice positively impacted my attitude and outcomes for the rest of the week.

When I got home from the Powell Wellness Center, one of the things I planned to do was cancel my monthly membership in The Champions Club. I had been paying for that since December 2012, but had never taken advantage of any of the resources. In the process of searching how to cancel my membership, I stumbled across the webinar replay from the week before. That was so good, I invested 45 minutes to listen to the entire message and took notes.

Vic said the two basics of achievement are desire and belief. This came from Napolean Hill’s book “Think and Grow Rich.” In that Hill wrote, “There is one quality which one must possess to win, and that is DEFINITENESS OF PURPOSE, the knowledge of what one wants, and a burning DESIRE to possess it.

The basics of achievement

  1. Creating, holding, and nurturing a BIG DREAM. You will not have achievement without DESIRE.
  2. Developing and feeding an UNSHAKABLE BELIEF.
  3. MASSIVE ACTION followed by FEEDBACK REVIEW followed by Massive Action

Vic went on to tell a fascinating story of Plato and his mentor Socrates, the wisest Greek philosopher of his day. One day when they both were in the ocean, Socrates held Plato under water until he passed out. Socrates then dragged Plato to the shore and revived him. Afterwards Plato asked Socrates why he nearly drowned him. Socrates replied “When you want my wisdom as bad as you wanted air, then you will have it.”

What about you? How hungry are you for godly wisdom? How big is your desire to live your Dream.

Shortly after watching Vic’s webinar replay, I received an email from one of my good friends referring someone new to me to possibly coach for two-way journaling to hear God’s voice. When I spoke to that fellow the next day, he chose to invest in his future and his dream and became a new coaching client of mine. He desired wisdom from The Journal Guy.

Vic’s teaching got me week off to such a good start, I decided to participate in his live weekly webinar at 4 pm EST. That was so inspirational, I chose to invest more time learning about Vic. On Vic’s website, I stumbled across this outstanding inspirational 5 minute video

The Only Disability in Life is a Bad Attitude

After watching that video, I ordered Vic’s book “52 Mondays: The One Year Path To Outrageous Success and Lifelong Happiness” for my Kindle and began reading that the next morning.

What happened on Mon July 7 led to an extraordinary week for me. And that all began with my choice to take action to start Monday with action and a positive attitude.

What about you? How are you going to start your day and week? How are you going to respond to adverse circumstances?

Blessings to choose a positive attitude regardless of your circumstances!
