Subject: What Are You Dedicated To? The Last Day of the Feast of Dedication

The Last Day of Chanukah
The Feast of Dedication
What are you dedicated to?
What about our nation?
I want to talk to you about the feast of Hanukkah also known as the Festival of Lights in respect to the overwhelming darkness of the horrific tragedy in Newtown Connecticut, a work of darkness that is affecting us all.
What does one have to do with the other? Allow me the liberty to explain.
First, I do not claim to have the right answer here. Far be it from me to think that highly of my opinions.
However I think we all need to at least begin to be asking the right questions.
Hanukkah is a commemoration of the dedication of the temple in Jerusalem. It was not merely the dedication of a magnificent stone building but the dedication of a nation, of people. People like you and me.
The Temple was being dedicated to God after having been defiled.
There are only two nations in all of history that were dedicated to God at their inception: Israel and the United States of America.
Chanukah means dedication and if there ever was a time for us as a people to dedicate ourselves to what is true and right that time is now.
The question we must ask about this tragedy in Newtown is not whether we should legislate stricter gun control, or how we can control every individual in our midst who displays behavioral abnormalities or whether we should now have armed guards at our schools (which may not be a bad idea) but rather the core question to ask is what have we done to release such reckless, heartless, evil into our midst?
Correct me if I am wrong but these kind of things just did not happen in America in the past. What I mean by the past is before 1960.
What was different back in our history that would have prevented such madness?
There was prayer in school, you were allowed to read the bible in public, perversion and terrible violence was absent from our media – there was the centrality of a Judeo-Christian world view in our society.
This is no longer the case.
Today we have replaced God and His commandments with a post modern secular world view that views biblical realities as myth.
In America, a nation dedicated to God at its birth:
You can no longer freely pray in school or in the public square.
You cannot freely read the bible in school or in the public square. You cannot freely teach about creation in school or in the public square.
We have literally kicked God out of our schools and out of our public square!
Just imagine who has felt free to enter these places?
Heaven, Hell, God and the devil have all become myth in our secular national conscious.
Morality has become relative.
There is no right and wrong.
If it feels good do it.
Evil has entered the very vacuum we created by getting rid of God!
Would a people dedicated to God have prevented what happened in Newtown?
I think so.
Not that American individuals before 1960 were fully dedicated to God but certainly the preeminence of the very principles and commandments of God were not rendered irrelevant or illegal.
Lets not forget
One of the ten commandments which we have made illegal to display in our schools or public squares is:
Thou shalt not kill…

Messianic Jewish evangelist Jeff Bernstein is a Jewish believer in Yeshua born in Brooklyn, NY. He has been called to reach the nations with the message of Messiah, especially the Jewish people first according to the command of scripture, not only in the USA, but also throughout the world.
“It has been my passion from the very beginning to see my people return to their Messiah and King and be grafted back onto their own olive tree.”
The Jewish people are destined to once again behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. Remember He came first for the lost sheep of the House of Israel!
I want to invite you to come along side of the Gates of Zion as we gather the Jewish people back to their God through their living King who today is unknown to the majority of the very people who first introduced Him to the world.
