Sabbath Inspiration: War Room

05 Sep

Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings; He will not stand before unknown men. (Proverbs 22:29)

So if I asked you what your prayer life is like, would you say it is hot or cold?” – War Room movie

On September 2, 2015 I received an email from Margaret Tierney saying “I just saw the movie ‘War Room’ and I thought it was excellent. It is about going into your prayer closet. If you get a chance, go see it while it is in the theaters.” My plate was full, so I did not follow through at that time.

Then yesterday (September 4) I stumbled across the movie again when I was taken serendipitously to the Breaking Christian News website. After watching the outstanding official movie trailer, I felt inspired to let my followers know about this treasure when I sent my next Sabbath Inspiration.

This morning (September 5) I was preparing a Sabbath Inspiration titled “Power Breakthrough” based on a recent live broadcast with Patricia King. That was the message I intended to send this morning. However, while doing that, I was inspired to include a short message about War Room. That led me to search my recent emails for ones that contained the words “War Room”.

To my surprise, I stumbled across a new email from my uncle (who recently presided over the wedding of my daughter) titled “Faith-based indy movie strikes box-office gold“. That message really grabbed my attention. The email included a link to a great article and video that came from a 4 minute live broadcast of the TV show “CBS This Morning”.

Here is an excerpt from the outstanding article on the CBS News website:

One of the most popular movies in America is one studios didn’t think would succeed, CBS News’ Elaine Quijano reports.

Unlike most films, the team behind “War Room” didn’t rely on Hollywood’s typical means of promotion of expensive commercials and glamorous premieres.

Instead, the filmmakers partnered with a network of influential pastors to promote a film with a decidedly Christian-based message — a strategy that’s turning it into one of the summer’s biggest successes.

With a primarily African-American cast, “War Room” tells the story of an affluent couple whose marriage is in trouble until they discover the healing power of prayer.

It’s a message filmmakers Alex and Stephen Kendrick believe the public needed to hear.

“For people of faith, much of the entertainment that’s out there is dishonoring to that faith, but we all want to see engaging, enriching, entertaining stories as well. So we long for that. We just want to tell it from a positive vantage point,” Alex Kendrick said.

That grassroots promotion helped “War Room,” with a budget of just $3 million, rake in nearly four times as much money on its opening weekend.

Enjoy this outstanding video from CBS This Morning!

I plan to see War Room this weekend. If you live in the USA and the movie is playing in a theater near you, I encourage you to go. Enjoy!

I absolutely loved this movie and it is now my new favorite! I can’t wait to purchase it when it comes out on DVD. I laughed, cried, and searched my heart as I watched the movie. I love it because it gives people an actual battle plan for defeating the enemy. Some of us know how to fight the enemy, but many Christians don’t realize the authority they already have in Christ Jesus! We have power over ALL the power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means harm us. This movie makes that very clear!

One question Joseph…did your email you sent out today about War Room get hacked? If you view the message I received it has some questionable dates and another thing that I won’t mention in the body of the email.

Thank you for sharing and I hope you enjoy the movie as much as I did.
    Many blessings to you!

“War Room ” shows in a practical way how to fight the real enemy, we need the Miss Clara’s with such a wealth of experience to rise up, to teach & share, what they have learned in their strategic sacred place.
Equipping others that are brought across their path, how to use the authority we have been given In Jesus Mighty Name!
I’m not a big movie watcher, but i just loved this movie & it fired me up, to step up to a new level in my prayer!
We must never give up learning, no matter what our age, & be willing to impart to others what we have learned during our life’s journey, only through our merciful Papa God’s love & grace.
Thank you to all concerned in the production of this movie, may God continue to bless you abundantly!

Joseph, When I heard about this movie War Room I was compelled to go because I watched the trailer and it reminded me of my own prayer life many years ago. During the movie I cried, I laughed and I cried some more but in the end the message of the film brought me back to why prayer works and the importance of praying the word cause God to intervene. In situations that we know that only God can do. I can say this my friend and brother that after going to see this powerful movie, I had to go back to when I was hungry for God and couldn’t get enough of His presence, I missed that closeness with The Father and didn’t realize that the hardships and many trials I endured had a major effect and robbed me of my relationship with The Father and my prayer life changed. This movie is for every Christian and all regilious groups to go and see what God is saying to each heart. YOUR LIFE WILL NEVER BE THE SAME AGAIN!

I saw this outstanding movie last weekend in Brisbane Australia. My personal prayer life desperately needed reviving. This is how I know to pray- with ‘the word’, but it’s not enough simply to know, we have to do.
We are a family of 10 living with my in-laws who are in their 90’s and we are in the early days of our own family film production business, we too have a heart to make excellent quality movies with great stories that touch and change people’s lives.
There is no possible room where we live now that I could set apart specifically as a ‘war room’ so I went home that night and was so inspired to do something about my prayer life that I found a shoe box covered it with heart printed wrapping paper protected it with sticky tape and made myself a ‘War Box’ that I can carry anywhere I can find peace and quiet, I keep it in the bottom of my wardrobe.

I have a tendency to have too many scriptures on a particular area of need and end up getting weary and give up. The Lord reminded me of the scripture in 2 Cor 13:1 ” By the mouth of two or three witnesses let every word be established”. It was freeing to know that all I have to do is ask the Holy Spirit.for two or three scriptures on an issue and then stand on those ones.

This movie was definitely God inspired, I believe He is stirring up His army of warriors to pray.

Outstanding movie!!! I highly recommend it. Very well done… I believe the best this brother team has put together so far. Get together with your family and friends to go see it. You won’t be disappointed.

Hi Joseph, I saw War Room with my children and grandchildren on 9/3/15. It was absolutely awesome! Even my 8 year old granddaughter got so in to it she laughed and cried too. What a blessing to be able to go to the movie theater and experience a powerful and moving God story on the big screen with your family. The movie emboldened us to stand stronger together, unified in prayer, to declare the reign of the King of Kings in our family and the gates of Hell will not prevail against it! Amen and Amen.

I saw the movie War Room, last night with a group of ladies from our Church. What a powerful, spirit filled movie! It really makes you meditate on your personal prayer life, and what you’re doing with it. A must see for everyone.

    ,Greeting Breathern

I am a biblical teacher but before I came to the Lord 10 years ago I was a humanistic coach for years. I found out that at the top of the worldwide transformational organization was a dark force, a principality. I ran for my life and God delivered me. So I started to learn of God’s kingdom and I was so surprised. I saw mostly Christian people in the body of Christ who were members of a church and just showed up sort of on Sunday. This was God’s army? We pray as Christians for our home, family, the president, and lots of issues but I saw no strategy for how we were going to do battle with the enemy. There was no overriding strategies for how to conquer his more global efforts directly. There is the worldwide prayer day but that is polluted with the enemy now. I went on to be trained as a biblical coach but found there many accepted worldly behaviors. Even worse was the fact that they were using many of the transformational techniques that I had been trained on for twenty years from this demonically covert transformational organization that I had belonged to. Then I could see Pastors were also leaning toward this training to help produce results for their congregations. The enemy’s intent is to change the biblical language we speak for this results effective enemy inspired tongue. It is being changed from a biblical context and syntax to the language of this worldly language that supposedly is just for the purpose of producing results. It is a covert move to keep you from relying on the bible for your transformation. Its intent is to train your tongue to not sound like the bible so much. The enemy’s goal is to get you into their form of transformation, into their organization, and away from churches. This is a war and the church is daily ever so slowing being indoctrinated into this Satanic move. Christian’s are flocking to this by the thousands by the way. God has given me a plan for this and more, but no one wants to deal with this sort of scary thing the enemy is doing. We need to buck up buttercup and put our minds and efforts into this to get the word out. A movie about this would surely be a good tool.

Thank you Marilyn for your feedback. My wife and I went to War Room yesterday evening with my parents in Harrisonburg, VA. Julia told me that was her favorite Christian movie too.

Thank you for pointing out the error with the dates. I mistakenly write “August” instead of “September” and have now corrected that on my blog. I re-read the email that was sent and can’t pick up the “another thing” you mention. Perhaps you can send an email an email to our support @ and be more specific.

I went to see the movie with a group from my church when it came out here in Green Bay Wisconsin on August 28. We had great expectations of seeing a faith-based movie and we were not disappointed at all. It is one of the best movies I have ever seen to lead a person to a deeper prayer life and learn to overcome a lukewarm, in effectual Christian walk. I love the powerful messages of speaking out the word of God in faith over your family and marriage. We need to walk in this kind of faith in these days. Blessings to all.

Last weekend (8/29) I saw War Room with about 25 ladies in MD. Then last week 9/2 I went with hubby to see it here in VA. What a blessing it was both times that I saw it.
I want to encourage everyone to go see “War Room” if you have not had a chance to see it yet.
I thought I knew how to pray (or should I say “wage war in prayer”) but I clearly do not. So, if you enjoy praying, endure praying or somewhere in between, you are sure to be impacted powerfully.
Someone said “every Believer needs to see this”…so go, and take someone(s) with you to see it or get a group and have some real fun.
I don’t remember laughing and crying all at the same time as much as I did in this film. Also, I don’t ever remember so many Amens, HalleluYahs, Praise the Lord and clapping ever in a movie.
I have seen all of the movies made by the Kendrick brothers and have long ago claimed “Facing the Giants” as my favorite and have almost worn out the dvd but it may well be displaced!
