Wake Up Church

15 Feb

Judgment is coming to America!!!

So the people of Nineveh believed God, proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest to the least of them. (Jonah 3:5)

If you believed God’s judgment was coming to America by the end of 2007, what would you do differently?

I had planned on having a different topic for today, but this morning the LORD was shouting to me “Judgment is coming! Judgment is coming! Wake up church! Repent and prepare the way of the LORD!

For the past three years, Connie Waldron cut my hair in Giles County, which is where I worked part-time. My hair had gotten to be quite long since Connie last cut it in mid December about a week before I stopped working at Carilion Giles Memorial Hospital. I haven’t been to Giles since because it’s a four hour drive from home.

Yesterday night, Pastor Mark Jarvis cut my hair. He worked for several years as a barber before getting saved and going to seminary school. Mark is the one who led me to a personal relationship with Jesus and subsequently played the lead role in my discipleship. Mark has always had a sense of urgency for the lost. He lives each day as if it may be his last. More than anyone else, Mark has taught me perseverance.

While Mark was cutting my hair, I told him that Pastor Randy Orndorff was giving me five minutes to speak to the pastors at the upcoming monthly meeting for the Culpeper Ministerial Association on Tuesday February 20. Mark responded to my remarks by saying the pastors in our community need a sense of urgency. I couldn’t agree more.

After His resurrection and immediately before He ascended into heaven, Jesus said “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” (Acts 1:8).

A modern day local translation of this might be “you shall be my witnesses to Me in Culpeper, Virginia, America, and the world.” The smallest thing Jesus told His disciples they had authority over was a city, never just a congregation within a city. God desires for the pastors in Culpeper to pastor the “Church of Culpeper,” not just small congregations. The bigger the vision God’s gives you, the greater the favor He will bestow on You to fulfill it.

Today marks the beginning of the four day celebration in Fredericksburg called Awaken the Dawn [www.awakenthedawn.net]. The 21 days of prayer, fasting, and worship have just been completed. Now it’s time to experience the fruit and the power of the Holy Spirit. If you live anywhere close to Fredericksburg, I highly recommend you come.

Prayer Power
Father, we praise You as a merciful God and a holy God. Thank You for Your patience with America and all the warnings You have given to repent of our wicked ways. Only you can truly awaken the dawn. Begin today in Fredericksburg with the Awaken the Dawn celebration. Invite people throughout Virginia and beyond. Open many eyes of understanding to know You! Open many ears to hear Your wake up call! Soften many hearts to obey You! Do something radical in Virginia. Unite Your army! The battle is Yours, LORD! Praise be to Your name Jesus! Hallelujah and Amen!
