Today is a Historic Day

07 Jul

Rest is an investment in tomorrow. – Dr. Mike Murdock

But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint. (Isaiah 40:31)

Are you weary?
What does it mean to wait on the LORD?

Today is 07-07-07, which only occurs every thousand years. The number “7” represents perfection or completion. So many exciting things happened today. 100,000 people were expected to gather at the Tennessee Titans football stadium for TheCall. According to multiple Internet sources, 07-07-07 is probably going to be the most popular wedding date in history.

Even from my limited perspective in Culpeper, numerous breakthroughs occurred. Julia and I attended a memorial service for Dorothy Jenkins, a sweet neighbor of ours who died on the 4th of July. Pastor Randy Orndorff presided. The funeral home was packed. Afterwards at the cemetery, I met Rev. Angela Jennings, the pastor at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. While she receives my daily devotional, this was the first time we had ever met. We had a phenomenal, spirit-led conversation.

At the reception afterwards at John and Rosemary Jenkins’ home, Sam Aitken shared one of the most touching God-stories I have ever heard in my life. A little while later, when Angela Jennings learned that Julia has a coffee roasting business, she birthed the idea to start a local family coffee ministry.

Dotster, the domain name registrar I normally use, offered a special sale on domain names today in commemoration of the special 07-07-07 date. Because of that, I reserved 72 new domains names, intending to partner with others to reclaim entire sectors of the marketplace.

This evening at 6:12 PM, I received a very exiting email from Bob and Jayne Griffin. As I’ve mentioned in several past devotionals, Bob is a prophet and founder of the Gideon Warriors Network [http://www.gideonwarriorsnetwork.org]. Here is what they said:

Dear Partners and Friends of the Ministry,

As many of you know we recently cancelled a set of meetings as led by the Holy Spirit.  Quite frankly we sensed a tremendous paradigm shift in the spiritual atmosphere after 15 years of preparation for a spiritual awakening throughout the earth it became necessary to simply stop and take a drink.  Not unlike the prophet Elijah who simply laid down upon a rock and waited for the angel of the Lord to manifest both a drink of water and a cake.  As you know this was repeated twice.  We believe that Elijah was actually receiving at that moment a double portion that he might go in the strength of those meals to finish the course.

Today 07/07/07 marks Bob’s 15th anniversary in stepping out to the nations of the world to prepare for a spiritual revival.  Today marks a spiritual crossing over for many in the body of Christ.  However, true prophets have already experienced this phenomenon if they are truly seated with Christ not only in this age but in the age to come.  We’ve seen the outpouring, have experienced it, have felt the fire, and have run with the torch for more than a decade.  It is therefore prudent for us to announce FIRE FROM HEAVEN!!  Bob will be coming in the power of the Spirit with a fresh wind and a fresh fire that cannot be quenched.  You don’t want to miss TRUE REVIVAL as Bob comes to Northern Virginia and the Washington DC area.  The fire of God’s Spirit is falling!!

Prayer Power
Heavenly Father, thank You for all You did today. Thank You for tearing down spiritual strongholds as the name of Jesus was being lifted up. Thank You that a fire from heaven is coming. We look forward to that. Teach us what it means to wait on You. In one accord with people across this great nation, we say “Jesus, be LORD of America.” Amen and Hallelujah!

So many couples believe that 07/07/07 is a lucky day to get married that many wedding chapels are scheduling weddings fifteen minutes apart, starting at 12:01 am on 07/07/07. Many wedding rings have been designed with seven diamonds and couples have chosen “seven” as the theme for their weddings.

It’s true that 07/07/07 is a unique date. It is also probably going to be the most popular wedding date in history surpassing future unique dates such as 08/08/08, 09/09/09, 10/10/10, 11/11/11, and 12/12/12. Other popular dates are ones with consecutive numbers such as 07/08/09.

Why? The reason is because “seven” is an important number in both religion and in folklore. There are 7 days in a week, 7 colors in the rainbow, etc. “In the Orthodox Jewish tradition, the bride circles the groom seven times when she arrives at the chuppah, a canopy used in weddings, symbolizing in part the seven days of creation. Seven candles are lit during Kwanzaa. There are seven wonders of the world. The Big Dipper is formed from seven stars. Buddha is said to have walked seven steps upon his birth. The Islamic tradition involves seven levels of heaven. The ancient city of Rome was said to be built on seven hills. There are seven deadly sins, as well as virtues, in some Christian traditions. And gamblers hit the jackpot with the slot machine combination 7-7-7. Triple sevens simply amplify the numerological meaning for those tying the knot.”

Couples who attend Engaged Encounter weekends are reminded that “A wedding is a day, a marriage is a lifetime.” Hopefully, couples choosing 07/07/07 and other unique dates for their wedding are doing more to prepare for their marriage than relying on luck.

Although getting married on 07/07/07 surely doesn’t guarantee marital success, it does pretty much remove any excuses for forgetting a wedding anniversary.
