Rededicating America to Jesus Christ

21 Dec

“It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the Bible.” – George Washington

“Then I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within them, and take the stony heart out of their flesh, and give them a heart of flesh, that they may walk in My statutes and keep My judgments and do them; and they shall be My people, and I will be their God.” (Ezekiel 11:19-20)

Have you ever publically invited Jesus to be LORD of your family and your home?
Why not make that be your Christmas gift to your family this year?

Yesterday’s devotional shared about The Assembly 2007, the official national faith-centered event, focusing on the 400 year anniversary of the prayer of dedication and planting of the cross at Cape Henry, VA by Robert Hunt, the first chaplain of Jamestown. This is a national call to the rededication of America to God in prayer.

Ed Silvoso, the founder of Harvest Evangelism, says that when He leads someone to the LORD now, he immediately asks that person to invite Jesus to be LORD of their home and business.

To effectively rededicate America back to God, we must begin locally, inviting Jesus Christ to be LORD of our own lives, families, neighborhoods, churches, businesses, schools, and government. This must be in deed as well as in word.

On Sunday December 17, about 60 people gathered at Pearl Sample Elementary School in Culpeper for our first community prayer walk of a school. As we stood in three circles holding hands, we recited a prayer together to publically and corporately invite Jesus to be LORD of our lives, our families, our churches, our schools, our businesses, and our government. Now we need to put feet to that prayer by making Jesus LORD in real terms.

True unity begins first and foremost with one’s own personal relationship with Jesus. It must then manifest in one’s marriage and family before it can emanate outward.

Prayer Power
Loving Father, replace the stony hearts of Your people with hearts that seek after You and desire to walk in Your statutes and keep Your judgments. Bless Your team as we go “Marching Through Culpeper” to proclaim You LORD throughout our precious city. Make Culpeper a shining light example for other communities in Virginia. Then make Virginia a shining light example for America and the world. Thank You Jesus. Amen.
