Not an Easy Road to Walk

“I will persist until I succeed.” – The Greatest Salesman in the World book

And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. (Galations 6:9)

What dream has God placed in your heart that requires tremendous persistence?
What steps can you take to ensure you succeed?

In my devotional on May 29 I talked about not despising small beginnings. When we see someone who is very successful in our eyes, it seems like they have had an easy life. Yet, rarely are we aware of all they went through to get there.

I first began these daily devotionals on July 1, 2006. Within a day I received a very touching reply from someone I hadn’t seen for three years confirming that the Holy Spirit was behind this. Since then I have received hundreds of replies confirming that the LORD is using these messages to change lives all around the world. Every time the Holy Spirit inspires me to write a new devotional, I have a tremendous sense of satisfaction, knowing the Holy Spirit (not me) is responsible for the results.

This hasn’t always been an easy road to walk. On the average, it takes me 90 minutes to write each devotional and post it to be sent out. I’ve had to say “No” to many other things I’ve wanted to do in order to say “Yes” to what God told me to do. But the Scriptures teach us not to despise small beginnings. Persistence is starting to pay off as new people are contacting me to ask for my help to bless their businesses through the web. Now I’m seeing an abundant harvest from the many good seeds that have been sown and am thankful to God for that.

In Psalm 1, God promises that people who meditate on His Word morning and night will prosper in all they do. In the past year, I’ve taken several radical steps of obedience that didn’t make sense to many people who are close to me. Yet, I knew deep in my heart that God is not a man that He can lie. His promises are “Yes” and “Amen”.  When you keep your focus on Jesus, you cannot fail. The extraordinary will become ordinary.
