Living in God’s Presence (TBNTP)

17 Oct

Prayer is a way to maintain constant communion with God.

“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5)

Is God your closest friend?
How do you let Him be?

The purpose of prayer is not simply to draw up one’s requests and praises and present them in an acceptable fashion to God. It is not simply to become aware of God’s answers and guidance. Prayer is a way to maintain constant communion with God. Too many Christians know a lot about God but rarely or never experience His presence in their lives.

Brother Lawrence, a cook in a seventeenth-century French monastery, gave the world a phrase that well describes such a deep friendship with Jesus: “The Practice of the Presence of God.” As this humble monk washed dishes and served food to his brothers, he communed with God, and the glow of God’s presence gave his menial kitchen duties richness and significance.

Being aware of God’s presence is a great feeling that brings many benefits:
1) Divine companionship with a faithful friend
2) Supernatural confidence to handle any problem that life throws at you
3) Increased love (compassion) for other human beings

What is God’s will?
1) That we believe in His love and power.
2) That we come to him in sincerity and trust.
3) That we clear away barriers between us, including pre-occupation and excessive busyness.
4) That we listen for His still, small voice and obey Him when we hear it.
5) That we live in His presence and enjoy Him forever.

Prayer Power
Most gracious, heavenly Father, thank You for our relationship. Thank You for my prayer life. Thank You for the privilege of spending time in Your presence every day. Make me completely transparent to allow Your rivers of living water to flow through me to bless millions of families around the world. Bless those who read this message with a deep hunger and thirst for You and Your righteousness. Thank You Jesus. Amen.
