George Escobar is the Founder of the Advent Film Group. It is an independent film production distribution group established to create excellent Chrisitan films by raising up great Christian filmmakers. They believe that no film, Christian or secular, can ever be truly successful without the redeeming blood of Jesus Christ who came to take away the sins of the world. He is our director, and we make all of our films for His glory alone.

The mission of the Advent Film Group is to train and raise up the next generation of Christian filmmakers and attract them to our program amid competition with several film schools. We seek to make micro-budget movies so that a student who saves his money can work in film, get an education and Biblical world view. By taking an alternative route to four years of film school, the filmmaking continues as they learn world subjects like literature and history while also learning local knowledge by serving the community, participating in media ministry, and using all their skills to serve different groups nearby. In doing this they build a strong community network.

The first film George produced was Come What May and the second one they are working on is Hero. AFG is producing several more feature films touching on themes with a biblical worldview important to family audiences.

I usually don’t check my emails early in the morning, but today I did. And my brother Kevin doesn’t email much, but last night he did.

Kevin wrote, “If you didn’t see it on the tv you have to hear this 10 year old that was on America’s Got Talent last night. I think she is now in the semi-finals. You can pull up You Tube and enter her name “Jackie Evancho” and “America’s Got Talent” to watch some clips. There are even clips of her at 7 years old. She is phenomenal.”

My other brother Dennis responded to Kevin’s email stating, “I saw it last night on TV and couldn’t believe that voice was coming from that little girl. At first I thought it must be lip syncing. She was fantastic!”

Then this morning, my wife Julia (World Bean Roasthers) responded “..speechless…”

That was enough to get me to watch the video right away and I’m so glad I did.

All 3 of the people rating the performance were astounded. One said, “That is one of the most extraordinary performances he has ever seen on America’s Got Talent.” And later, “We’re going to wake up tomorrow and America is going to go crazy about this little girl who just sang like an angel.”

This is a prefect example of a child operating in her God-given gifting.

During out last VISIONS777 Master’s Mind Team meeting on Wed July 21, Carrie Stone suggested inviting Jeff Deyo to be one of our two guest speakers for the “God’s Visions For Music” webinar on Sept 21. Carrie told me Jeff is the founder of the Praise Music Institute and is raising up the next generation of worship leaders.

During my quiet time the next morning, I researched Jeff online and came across his Facebook page. When I clicked on the first video I saw on Jeff’s Facebook “wall,” Kim Walker’s song “How He Loves Us” resonated so deeply with my spirit.

I now share this blessing with you. Encounter the love of God.

“How He Loves Us” begins with these lyrics “He (Jesus) is jealous for me. Loves like a hurricane. I am a tree bending beneath the weight of His wind and mercy.”

Matt compared taking care of your spirit consistently like you take care or your physical body. He emphasized the importance of journaling to REMEMBER and to record your journey with God. He talked about the value of 2-way journaling.

Here is an outline of Matt’s message:

1) Check my spiritual breathing
a) Exhale – Confess sin (1 John 1:9)
b) Inhale – Ask to be filled with the Holy Spirit (Eph 5:18)
c) Permission Prayer – “Whatever You tell me to do, I’ll do.”

2) Read/Listen to the Bible

Hebrews 4:12a – For the word of God is LIVING and powerful

a) Realize God is speaking to you as you read.

The Bible is more like a love letter than a manual for life.

“The Bible is not something that leads to a connection with God. It is the connection with God.”

b) Read 1-4 chapters daily as you systematically read through the Bible.

3) Journal – Write out the completion of these statements:
a) The most meaningful statement or verse that I encountered today is …
b) Today, God I hear you saying to me: “[Your name], …”
c) In response to You, God, I want to …

4) Memorize scripture (Joshua 1:8)
a) Write out th most meaningful verse of the day on a 3×5 card
b) Read the verse out loud 10 times each day
c) Repeat; Repeat; Repeat
d) Share this verse with someone else today!

5) Pray to God – Writ out your prayers to God.

6) Praise God!
a) Tell God how great He is!
b) Thank Him for what He has done!

COMMITMENTS
1) When am I going to meet with God EACH day?
2) Where am I going to meet with God EACH day?
3) How long am I going to meet with God EACH day?
4) What resources do I need to meet with God EACH day?

Prayer Power
Heavenly Father, I want to draw closer to You. I want to spend more time in Your holy temple, dwelling under the shadow of Your wings. Help me with my spiritual breathing, meditating on Your holy Word morning and night, and praying to and praising You more consistently. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.

“Now therefore, fear the LORD, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the LORD! And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD” (Joshua 24:14-15).

What does this mean to you? Who are you serving? Who is your house, your family serving?

What is the Greatest Commandment? Do you know?

“Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?” Jesus said to him,” ‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.’” (Matthew 22:36-40)

What does this mean to you? What does it mean to love the LORD with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind? Love is spelled T.I.M.E. If you’re not spending quiet time with God every day, how can he be your first love?

Who is sitting on the throne of your life, you or Jesus?
Whose kingdom are you building, yours or the kingdom or God?

Revelations 3:14-19 states “And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write, ‘These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God: I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’ –and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked– I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.’ ”

What does this mean to you?
Are you hot, cold, or lukewarm in your relationship with Jesus?

Do you rejoice in God stories and victories that other people share? Do you provide a safe place for others to BE who they are in Christ.

I AM positive that Jesus is going to take care of me. It’s His promise. God is faithful – always. Jesus says, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things will be given unto you.” (Matthew 6:33). That’s what I do every day, seeking God’s Kingdom and His righteousness first. .

After his baptism by John, Jesus went into the desert for 40 days to fast and pray. At the end of those 40 days, Satan came to him to tempt him. With each of the 3 temptations Satan offered, Jesus responded “It is written…” Jesus used the Word of God every time in the greatest spiritual battle ever fought. We are to do likewise.

But He answered and said, “IT IS WRITTEN, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’” (Matthew 4:4)

We don’t war against flesh and blood, against people, against organizations, but rather against principalities and rulers of darkness. In Ephesians 6:10-13, the great apostle Paul wrote,

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”

It’s time to AWAKE and ARISE, to BE all you are called to be in Christ.

On May 10, I began a 40 day series based on the book The Love Dare. The Love Dare, as featured in the outstanding Christian movie Fireproof, is a 40-day challenge for husbands and wives to understand and practice unconditional love. Whether your marriage is hanging by a thread or healthy and strong, The Love Dare is a journey you need to take.

Today’s message is “Love is not selfish.”

Romans 12:10 Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another;

We live in a world that is enamored with “self.” If ever there was a word that basically means the opposite of love, it is selfishness. Almost every sinful action ever committed can be traced back to a selfish motive. It is a trait we hate in other people, but justify in ourselves.

Why do we have such low standards for ourselves but high expectations for our mate? The answer is a painful pill to swallow. We are all selfish.

When a husband puts his interests, desires, and priorities in front of his wife, that’s a sign of selfishness. When a wife constantly complains about the time and energy she spends meeting the needs of her husband, that’s a sign of selfishness. True love looks for ways to say “yes.”

One ironic aspect of selfishness is that even generous actions can be selfish if the motive is to gain bragging rights or receive a reward. The bottom line is that you either make decisions out of love for others or love for yourself.

Love also leads to greater joy. The truth is, when you relinquish your rights for the sake of your mate, you get a chance to lose yourself to the greater purpose of marriage.

Ask yourself these questions:

• Do I truly want what’s best for my husband or wife?
• Do I want them to feel loved by me?
• Do they believe I have their best interests in mind?
• Do they see me as looking out for myself first?

Whether you like it or not, you have a reputation in the eyes of those around you, especially in the eyes of you spouse. But is it a loving reputation?

Today’s Dare
Whatever you put your time, energy, and money into will become more important to you. It’s hard to care for something you are not investing in. Along with restraining from negative comments, buy your spouse something that says, “I was thinking of you today.”

Prayer Power
Heavenly Father, we praise You as the most giving, unselfish Being in the universe. Teach us to “BE kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another.” In Jesus name, Amen.
