Monday March 28 started off with a bang. After my morning quiet time, I discovered two very encouraging emails from Georgia Fauber and Deborah Driskell in response to my “Sunday Inspiration: The puzzle pieces will fall into place.” These were clear demonstrations of the beautiful tapestry Holy Spirit is weaving.

Then I received an email from Godtube with the captivating subject title “75 Marathons in 75 Days: The Incredible True Story of Terry Hitchcock.” The email began

GodTube.com proudly brings you the incredible true story of Terry Hitchcock. At the age of 57 Terry Hitchcock decided to accomplish the impossible: run 75 consecutive marathons in 75 consecutive days to bring attention to the incredibly difficult lives of single-parent families. An unbelievable story of endurance and faith that will inspire you to be somebody’s hero. MY RUN is more than a film about a man running multiple marathons; it’s a film about the daily marathons we all run in life. Do not miss this one night only movie event on March 31, 2011.

MY RUN: A Spiritual Journey – The Terry Hitchcock

Wow! Did this story touch my heart. There are so many single-parents families. This video and Terry’s story offer hope to the hopeless. May it touch your heart as it touched mine.

On Monday evening I hosted my own webinar “Show Me The Money” sharing my BLUEPRINT for those of you interested in launching your own online coaching programs.

On Tuesday March 29, I received an email from Nancy Slocum stating, “Good morning Joseph, I always read these prophecy bulletins in the morning and they always seem to be right on target! On Thursday March 31, I completed the private Member site for Lauri Elliott’s “Blog To Book Success: Building a Business Empire.”

On Friday April 1, I spent the bulk of my day preparing for Georgia Will Fauber’s upcoming webinar on Tues April 5 titled “Are you Making a Difference?” – the webinar for non-profit organizations. According to Georgia, “NOW is the time for non-profit organizations to learn from experts willing to share their expertise. We are excited to communicate to non-profits in a venue that has NEVER been tapped before.”

At 5 in the morning on Saturday April 2, I went to Soul Purpose Church (SPC) to pray for an hour (actually 1 3/4 hours) during their 24-hour time of prayer covered by many people in the church. What happened there was incredible. One of the things that happened is Holy Spirit opened the door to offer the “How To Hear God Speak” training that Lynne Lee and I prepared earlier this year to interested people at SPC. I believe the strategy revealed is one that can multiply this teaching in churches throughout the world.

By the way, sharing your comments publicly on the YDB blog [at the bottom of each post] will inspire others and begins a conversation that often leads to more fruit.

My friend Jeff Bernstein, founder of Gates of Zion, taught me that the word “Shalom” means much more than peace. It means complete peace and wellness — body, mind, soul, and spirit. According to Wikipedia, “Shalom is a Hebrew word meaning peace, completeness, and welfare [i.e. complete peace and wholeness] and can be used idiomatically to mean both hello and goodbye.”

Today you have a choice, a very important one. This message could just be another one that wastes 5 minutes of your time or it could profoundly alter the rest of your life and the lives of those closest to you.

According to Jim Cornish of Canada, “It is estimated that the average human adult body contains about 10 trillion cells. Placed end to end, they would stretch around the earth 47 times… Cells work to keep us healthy and alive.” Each cell can be compared to a home and family with its own set of roles and responsibilities.

“So what? Now what?” you may ask. When it comes to your health, an ounce of prevention is worth a ton of cure. When they had read it, they rejoiced over its encouragement. (Acts 15:31)

What kind of impact does validating others have?
What would the world be like if we all took a purposeful intent to be more validating of others?

In late October 2008 I went to the Relational Coaching Network (RCN) retreat at a beach house in Virginia Beach as guests of Jerry and Sharon Graham. In response to an email request by Tony Stoltzfus, a well-known, well-respected coach trainer who is the founder of the RCN, I agreed to videotape a session at the retreat about “How to Form and Run a Coaching Cell.”

Tony felt very strongly that for coaches to continue to be part of the RCN, they needed to participate in their coaching cell groups with at least 3 life coaches. So on December 4, Jerry, Deborah Smith, and I had our first 3-way coaching meeting over the phone. During that meeting, Jerry recommended we invite Ben Stewart to also be part of our group, which we gladly did. Ben accepted.

Yesterday afternoon, we had our first 4-way coaching cell group meeting with Jerry, Deb, Ben, and me, with Jerry serving as facilitator. Wow!  This was an awesome blessings for all four of us with lots of encouragement and validation.

During the course of our conversation, Jerry shared one of his recent “two-way” (Jesus and him) journal entries. That prompted me to share one of my recent two-way journal entries. In response to that, Deb said that one of the things the LORD is holding her accountable to from this conversation is to journal again.

Later I shared a recent revelation that members of Team Destiny are like players on the same football team. When one player (e.g. the quarterback) does very well, that’s good for the entire team and all the players regardless of their role or notoriety. In response to that Jerry said, “Everyone gets the Super Bowl ring when the team wins.”

This led Jerry to highly recommend that we all watch a 16 minute movie about validation that he wrote about in one of his Daily Gram blog posts on December 5. Jerry said that is one of his favorite short videos in the past several years. Jerry reminded all of us that validating others is part of our DNA as coaches.

So after our meeting, I read Jerry’s blog post titled “Power of Validation” and then watched the video on that web page. That was well worth my time and such an encouragement that I decided to make today’s message about that. Enjoy the video at today’s Link of the Day.

Prayer Power
Heavenly Father, we praise You as the God of encouragement, the greatest Encourager ever, the God who validates us as children of God. I pray that everyone who watches the validation video will feel encouraged and validated, so much so that they will encourage and validate many others whom they meet. Thank You Jesus. Blessings to feel validated and to validate others!

Am I frustrated with trying to change my life?
What are signs that I’m trying to change my life rather xthan allowing God to transform me?

In Session #1 of “The Life You’ve Always Wanted,” John Ortberg says, “The good news as Jesus preached it is that now it is possible for ordinary men and women to live in the presence and under the power of God … It is not about the minimal entrance requirements for getting into heaven when you die. It is about the glorious redemption of human life – your life. It’s morphing time.”

The following is an excerpt from a message preached by Pastor Matt Gregory on October 7, 2007.

Trying to change my life leads to failure and frustration! (Luke 11:24-26). Signs I’m trying to change, include:
1) Measuring spiritual success in superficial ways (Matt 23:27-28)
2) Needing to impress and compare
3) Judgmental, exclusive, proud
4) Getting weary of pursuing spiritual growth
5) Looking for the latest spiritual fad
6) Relying on feelings

In Galations 6:15 (NLT), God says, “What counts is whether we have been transformed into a new creation.” But what kind of “new creation” am I suppose to be transformed into? Romans 8:29 makes it clear that I am to become Christ-like – “For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son.”

Q: Is transformation instantaneous or a process? A: Both

Q: Whose responsibility is it to transform my life – God’s or mine? A: Both. As 2 Peter 3:18 states, “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” That’s a command.

Q: What do I do to be transformed? A: 1 Timothy 4:7 says “exercise (train) yourself toward godliness.” Spiritual disciplines are any activity or tool (e.g. prayer, Bible reading, confession) that can help me be transformed and life the life that Jesus intended for me.

Heavenly Father, I praise You as a sovereign God. You have been at work in my life before I was born. I didn’t choose who my parents were, where I was born, where I was raised, or who crossed my path to influence me. You created me with unique gifts, talents, abilities, and experiences to solve a unique problem. Guide me to die daily to myself and rise to new life in You. Thank You Jesus. Amen.

How many friends have you encouraged this week?

When I retrieved my emails this morning and read the daily reflection from Jerry and Sharon Graham  titled “A Very Exciting Week,” tears came to my eyes. As many of my readers know, last year the Holy Spirit gave me this uncommon revelation, “A daily email with short stories of changed lives and a prayer is the #1 way to grow your network and build strong relationships. But it must be done properly.”

Jerry and Sharon are the top contacts that God blessed me with in 2007. Collectively known as “The Coaching Pair,” [www.thecoachingpair.com], their life purpose is guiding people to their destiny. They became web clients of mine in early July. Since then we have met almost weekly on the phone and online and they have followed through with all of my recommendations, preparing their fields for sowing. On Monday Sep 17 they formally began sowing their good seeds with their first daily reflection to more than 700 people. After 4 days of sowing, here is what Jerry and Sharon say in today’s reflection:

“The launch of our new and revised web sites and the daily Reflection emails has made this a very exciting week for us. Monday’s Reflection ruefully spoke of the evaporation of relationships as the busyness of life pushed its way to the front. We mentioned that it was our desire to be more purposeful about staying in touch with those people whom God had blessed us with and that a frequent email from us was an attempt on our part to fulfill that goal.

I’ll be the first to admit that we didn’t know how that would be received. We all get so much email these days that another regular email from somebody (even if they were a friend) could be viewed more as a curse than as a blessing. Sunday night, we said a little prayer, held our breath, and pushed the send button.

Five days later, the dust is beginning to settle. From an email list that hadn’t been “scrubbed” for years, amazingly we had less than 15% bounce due to an incorrect address. Unfortunately, we don’t know how to get the latest address. We had less than ten opt out, effectively saying that they chose to not receive the emails. No hard feelings–we totally understand.

But the good news is that we must have received close to a hundred short notes (some not as short) from people who thanked us for reaching out…who thanked us for including them on our list. Incredible!!! Talk about being blessed. A number of the people we heard from we had not heard from for several years. It reminded me of reminiscing through the pages of an old photo album.

So to all of you who took a moment from your busy schedule to send us a note of encouragement–we thank you from the bottom of our heart. To all of you who took a couple of moments to read what we wrote–we thank you as well. And finally, for those who didn’t write–we totally understand. It was no where in our expectations that people would write back. God has favored us with some incredible friends.”

Prayer Power
Lord, thank You for the blessing of our friends. You are truly a God of abundance. We thank You for sending them to us even as we have to ask many of them for their forgiveness when we were less than careful with such a precious gift. Guide us as we daily seek to speak a word of encouragement or blessing into their busy lives.

On Saturday September 1st, I went to Madison, Virginia for the fifteenth annual “TASTE OF THE MOUNTAINS” Street Festival, sponsored by the Madison Chamber of Commerce. This event has earned its reputation for uniqueness with a following of visitors that return every year. In 1999 it was named as one of the top 20 festivals in the southeastern region. Madison County, which borders Culpeper, is a very special place and is named after James Madison, father of the U.S. Constitution.

In the 20 years I’ve lived in Culpeper, this was the first time I had gone to this event. Why did I go? Because my wife had a tent set up marketing her fresh roasted coffee and she was helping Susan, owner of the Cameleer, one of the most successful businesses in downtown Culpeper. Julia’s tent and Susan’s table were set up side by side in front of “The Last Nickel,” a historic home that Susan and her husband are restoring to sell their unique crafts from around the world. God blessed us with a gorgeous day on this Labor Day weekend.
